Visual collections
Many weblogs and news sites today have photos or illustrations in every article. These images are often indispensable. For example, a site with car news cannot do without pictures, same holds for eg. news about fashion, gadgets, funny images, photography or design; it is visual news.
On Spectives, people can make visual collections. A collection shows the latest articles from their favorite news sites / weblogs as pictures with headlines. Scanning news is very easy that way.
"Our users already made lots of collections" says founder Rutger van Waveren. "I'm delighted by their creativity". Examples are collections about gadgets (spectives.com/gadgets), gossip (spectives.com/gossip) and a collection simply called inspiration (spectives.com/inspiration).
Our visual brain
"Our brain is excellent at processing visual information" says Van Waveren. Spectives makes use of this. "Keeping up-to-date with news from your favorite sites is very easy, just scan the pictures. If you want to read more, just click on the image to read the full article". He concludes "Our first users simply say: Seeing is believing".
